This role involves selling general merchandise to customers using professional selling techniques and working as part of a sales team to exceed customer expectations. Additionally, the position requires assisting in all aspects of operating a Food and Beverage Convenience Bar, including opening and closing procedures, preparing and displaying goods, replenishing stock, and cleaning stations and equipment.

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Greets and engages customers in conversation for sales assistance.
Assists customers in selecting merchandise and suggests complementary items.
Offers extended product warranties and explains their benefits and price.
Interacts with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to dress code and supporting team members.
Becomes knowledgeable about merchandise, including setup, use, care, characteristics, price points, and warranty coverage, and communicates this information to customers.
Ensures assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged.
Communicates with supervisors regarding stock, sales, and customer feedback.
Participates in department meetings and shares ideas for improving customer service and sales.
Completes sales transactions efficiently and thanks customers for their patronage.
Performs cash register transactions accurately, including cash, charge, check, gift certificates, and layaway.
Advises customers of upcoming sales events and available Navy Exchange services.
Offers customers the opportunity to open a NEXCARD account and informs them of its benefits.
Becomes knowledgeable in NEX store policies, including the Richter Merchandising System, returns, price matching, check cashing, and rain checks.
Handles customer returns and problems tactfully and efficiently, applying store policies consistently.
Maintains a high level of awareness in assigned areas to deter theft and offers excellent customer service.
Unpacks, stages, and moves merchandise as assigned.
Assists in creating store displays and performing periodic inventories.
Completes paperwork related to merchandise, inventory, price adjustments, returns, and cash register operations accurately.
Eligible for and participates in applicable commission and gainsharing sales incentive programs.
Opens and closes the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar.
Ensures all equipment is turned on during opening and turned off during closing.
Preheats and displays products in heated display merchandisers.
Replenishes products and condiments at the beverage bar.
Ensures all products remaining at the close of business are time-dated.
Cleans small wares and equipment throughout the day and at closing.
Monitors the temperature of refrigerators and freezers a minimum of three times daily.
May be required to attend food safety training sessions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
