About The Position

This position is responsible for managing the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager. This includes supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates, daily management of labor, and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations. The role involves providing leadership and motivation to promote a culture reflective of the Brand Strategy and Culture, and supporting the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results. A key aspect of the role is to provide enthusiastic customer service, creating a positive shopping experience by being fast, easy, flexible, and friendly. The Sales Associate will role model outstanding customer service, utilize product knowledge to exceed customer expectations, and control store expenses through proper ordering and care of supplies and equipment. They will also be responsible for ensuring department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained, and that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise adhere to policies. The role requires monitoring shrink, ensuring inventory is accounted for, and coaching associates to prevent losses. Compliance with all company guidelines, policies, standard practices, and security standards is essential. The associate must maintain a neat appearance and comply with dress code, and successfully complete required training.

  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  • Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Provide enthusiastic customer service, creating a positive shopping experience by being fast, easy, flexible, and friendly.
  • Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
  • Control store's expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
  • Understand and use company tools such as; financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems. Understands and utilizes Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS).
  • Perform duties that ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety and department sanitation are consistently maintained.
  • Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written to provide extraordinary customer service at all times, should create every other week.
  • Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines.
  • Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Record and report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures.
  • Monitor shrink ensuring that inventory is accounted for; provide coaching for associates to recognize and prevent losses.
  • Ensure that all advertising and sales promotion materials applicable to the Deli Bakery HMS are properly utilized.
  • Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.
  • Maintain security standards.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times; comply with company dress code and personal appearance guidelines.
  • Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
