About The Position

This position is responsible for keeping the produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands, smiling and greeting customers, answering customer questions, handling special requests, and resolving customer concerns promptly. The associate will also unpack merchandise, clean and trim produce, stock the area with new merchandise, ensure merchandise is in saleable condition by rotating stock for freshness, and ensure product has correct signage. The role involves maintaining the salad bar and cut fruit/vegetable as needed, assisting in building attractive displays, accurately completing product logs, and handling spoiled/damaged product, new items, and discontinued items according to company policy. Sanitation is key, including following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well-maintained, clean, and meet health and OSHA requirements. The associate will also dispose of trash properly, assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages, and report shortages and overages to the manager. Additional duties may include receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries with training provided for power jack or hand jack operation, and baling cardboard if trained. Cooperation with co-workers and superiors is essential for the smooth function of the department and store, along with a commitment to continuously improve job performance and utilize all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Requirements

  • Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
  • Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions, handles special requests such as filling orders for fruit baskets and resolves customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
  • Unpacks cartons and crates of merchandise, cleans and trims produce, stocks area with new merchandise.
  • Ensures merchandise is in saleable condition which requires rotating stock to ensure freshness.
  • Ensures that product has been properly priced with correct signage.
  • Maintains salad bar and cut fruit/vegetable as needed.
  • Assists in building attractive displays.
  • Accurately completes necessary product logs.
  • Handles spoiled and damaged product, new items and discontinued items accordingly to company policy.
  • Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
  • Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
  • Disposes of trash properly.
