About The Position

The Sales Associate is at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience, helping pet parents find suitable products and solutions while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role involves customer service and sales, sharing product and pet care information, processing transactions, stocking and merchandising, and supporting store operations. It is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working with a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

• Passion for animals and an interest in pet care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in proximity to animals and exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
• Flexible availability to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
• Share accurate product and pet care information to help customers make informed choices.
• Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing store and sales floor.
• Greet customers and provide friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
• Help customers select products and services that meet their pets’ needs.
• Educate customers about products, services, and promotions, and support store sales and service goals.
• Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
• Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
• Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional setups, and daily operational routines.
• Collaborate with teammates to support store goals and complete assigned tasks.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
