About The Position

Sales Associates serve our thrift stores by assisting customers with their overall shopping experience. This includes providing a clean, safe environment for them to shop, displaying merchandise so it is easy to find, supporting the checkout process, and answering customer questions in person or by phone. In-store training will be provided.

• Ability to engage with customers, guests, volunteers and team members.
• A basic knowledge of general sales and merchandising processes.
• Willingness to exceed “Mission standard” expectations.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Strong work ethic & commitment; work as scheduled- include holidays/weekends as assigned.
• Strong listening and communication skills to execute instructions and exhibit professionalism.
• Strong organizational skills to assist with multi-tasking daily assignments and special projects.

Responsibilities

• Stock items on the sales floor from the storage room
• Process donations as needed, steam clothing
• Checkout processes to include use of cash register, computer, and basic math skills
• Assist customers throughout the store; answer questions, explain processes
• Answer phone calls to assist customers; transfer and/or take a message as requested.
• Basic housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.
