About The Position

The Sales Associate is responsible for upholding the Core Values and ensuring customers are amazed every time. This role involves engaging customers, determining their needs, and projecting their requirements. The associate will maintain their assigned department, execute daily operational goals, and cooperate with team members. Responsibilities include restocking merchandise, handling special orders, preventing shoplifting through excellent customer service, and promoting the Ace Rewards program. The associate will also assist customers with complaints, use the Five Foot Rule, and maintain awareness of promotions. Communication via radio and headset is essential, and assisting with training peers and other assigned tasks are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Willing to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
  • Proven track record of being a team player.
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
  • Availability must be flexible including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
  • Ability to move and handle merchandise up to 40 pounds, and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and performing all functions as set forth.

Responsibilities

  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise.
  • Maintain assigned department: Keep clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, including participating in daily huddle meetings and sharing ideas for improvement.
  • Remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required following sales events, flyers, etc.
  • Restock merchandise displays as needed, watch end caps and side wings.
  • Handle special orders for all non-stock items, always checking with a manager before saying no to a customer.
  • Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy.
  • Provide the best possible experience for every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
  • Stand in a main aisle to get the best view of customers when not assisting a customer or cleaning, and walk up and down aisles to ensure customers are being assisted.
  • Serve customers in assigned departments or storewide, providing advice or information and greeting customers promptly.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Actively participate in store communication and initiatives.
  • Assist customers with simple complaints/concerns and involve a manager with problems as needed.
  • Use the Five Foot Rule – greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet.
  • Be polite and attentive to customers, making eye contact and smiling.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s), and use the Magic Question.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
  • Always wear radio and headset for effective communication.
  • Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items.
  • Offer customers a red basket for their shopping use.
  • Assist in the training and development of peers.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as directed by supervision.
