About The Position

Tender Loving Empire (TLE) is seeking a Part Time Sales Associate for its new Pike Place location. TLE is a company founded on the principles of inspiration, positive change, and the belief that art, music, creativity, and human connections enhance life. Since 2006, TLE has been dedicated to empowering and supporting creatives, enriching employees, and delighting patrons. The Pike Place store will continue the mission of selling locally-made goods and supporting independent businesses and makers whose values align with TLE's. This role is an opportunity to contribute to TLE's mission by supporting hundreds of makers, musicians, and small businesses.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • At least 18 years or older.
  • Minimum of one year in a specialty retail and/or customer service role.
  • Ability to work variable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

  • Excellent customer service and sales skills, including the ability to upsell and drive store promotions.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to connect with customers on a sales floor.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with team, customers, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and connecting with customers.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to share insight into products, makers, and the TLE brand.
  • Prioritizing customer engagement, store look and feel, and product knowledge and sales.
  • Creating an exceptional and unique customer experience by circulating the sales floor and connecting with customers on products and offerings.
  • Ensuring merchandise is stocked, clean, and presentable at all times.
  • Accurately ringing in sales using point of sale, processing refunds, and remedying or escalating inventory discrepancies.
  • Helping customers determine their needs or interests and providing recommendations.
  • Developing strong relationships with customers and looking for opportunities to further expand their purchases.
  • Taking full advantage of company training and literature to retain current knowledge of product and vendor offerings.
  • Upholding company cleanliness and organization standards of merchandise floor, stock room, and all storage areas.
  • Signing customers up for TLE & Me reward program and engaging with them on program incentives.
  • Staying up to date on current promotional offerings and ensuring customers are aware of these while shopping.
  • Opening and closing stores within scheduled time, ensuring all daily and weekly tasks are completed.
  • Seeking opportunities to meet daily financial goals.
