Full Time - Sales Associate - Flooring - Day
About The Position
The Sales Associate works in the Flooring department, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for their home improvement needs. The role focuses on listening to customers, answering questions, locating and selecting merchandise, and providing friendly, professional service. Associates may occasionally load merchandise, organize and replenish shelves, process orders and deliveries, and prepare merchandise to meet customer needs. Department assignments and daily responsibilities may vary based on store hiring needs and skillsets. The position may also require cross-training in other areas of the store and occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Working conditions may include indoor and outdoor environments, varying and sometimes extreme weather, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
- Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate, handle, and select merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately and on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
- Prepare merchandise in the department based on customer needs.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Occasionally load merchandise.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
