About The Position

Home Surplus is a growing warehouse superstore that sells cabinets, doors, countertops, and other products. The company offers high-quality, in-stock products, design help, and customer service at affordable prices. It has been in business for over 60 years, operates five stores across New Jersey and Maryland, and aims to become the first choice for homeowners and contractors.

The Sales Associate helps customers at the Keyport store find the right products and provides an excellent experience from start to finish. The role offers an opportunity to grow a sales career, with potential to move into design or management.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of sales experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Computer skills, including email and basic data entry.
• Available to work some Saturdays during retail hours.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Friendly and professional demeanor with a positive attitude.
• Confidence asking questions and recommending products.
• Reliable and organized, with the ability to follow up and follow through.
• Ability to work well with others as a team player.

Nice To Haves

• Point-of-sale (POS) system experience.
• Home improvement, cabinet, or building materials experience.
• Spanish speaking.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, help them find what they need, and answer their questions.
• Learn the company's products, including cabinets, doors, and countertops.
• Listen to customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Follow up with customers by phone, text, and email.
• Ensure orders are accurate and work with the team to fulfill them.
• Organize displays and keep the showroom looking great.
• Share customer feedback to help the company improve.
• Work with the team to provide every customer with a great experience.
