About The Position

The Sales Associate PT position is a part-time role based in the Sterling Store in Sterling, IL. This position is responsible for all duties assigned by management, focusing on providing exceptional customer service, handling transactions, and maintaining the sales floor. The role involves direct interaction with customers, processing sales, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. Sales Associates are expected to uphold Goodwill's standards for customer service, safety, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

Ability to provide high levels of customer service.
Ability to handle cash accurately.
Ability to count, add, and subtract.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Ability to follow all safety rules.
Must be able to operate a pricing gun and cash register.
Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
Use of both hands.
Good manual and finger dexterity.
Ability to visually inspect and eliminate non-saleable donations.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a retail store environment.
Experience with merchandising.
Knowledge of Goodwill's pricing structure.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, assisting with sales, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately using the cash register.
Bag merchandise for customers.
Communicate customer concerns and compliments to management.
Assist with merchandising by creating displays and end caps as directed.
Maintain a neat, clean, and appealing checkout area.
Put away merchandise in its proper place.
Follow established safety rules and report any safety accidents or hazards.
Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
Follow loss prevention procedures by reporting any potential losses.
Support the mission through customer participation in the round up program.
Follow established processes according to Kaizen standards.
Demonstrate regard for Goodwill's assets, including property and equipment.
