About The Position

Promotes Aztec Store sales by providing high quality customer service; demonstrates knowledge of products and services; is responsive to customer needs. Works efficiently as a team member, taking initiative to perform tasks, resolve problems and ensure a successful outcome. May include cashiering or working on the sales floor. Greets customers and offers assistance according to standard procedures. Answers inquiries, provides information and interacts with customers according to established guidelines. Answers telephone inquiries and correctly reroutes calls when appropriate. May be responsible for a cash drawer and process cash and credit card transactions on a sales floor register. May assist in the stocking/replenishment of bookstore inventory. Maintains clean work area and equipment. Uses interpersonal skills to build customer confidence. Maintains positive working relationship with customers, co-workers and supervisors. Assists other departments as needed. Must comply with and ensure continued, consistent compliance with all company policies, and federal, state, and local laws/regulations including but not limited to: employment, safety, and health. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree is required.
  • At least one year retail/customer service experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines and objectives.
  • Requires the ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees using correct English and a well-modulated voice.
  • Requires good voice quality that is conversational and professional.
  • Requires basic math skills with the ability to count in ascending or descending order.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Requires the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out general written or oral instruction.
  • Requires the ability to use a variety of equipment such as a cash register, a phone, a computer and a calculator.
  • Must have average levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Must have the ability to talk/expressing and/or exchanging ideas and hear/perceiving sounds.
  • Physical appearance presented to the public and internal employees must be professional.
  • Must be physically able to operate cash registers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand for prolonged hours; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral visions, distance vision, and color vision.
