About The Position

As a Sales Associate at Petco, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find suitable products and solutions for their pets while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. This role is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment. The role includes supporting animal health and safety, sharing accurate product and pet-care information, serving customers, assisting with sales and transactions, and maintaining store operations and merchandising standards. It is performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment and requires active engagement on the sales floor. Employees must be comfortable working around animals and may be exposed to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is needed to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

Passion for animals and an interest in pet care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in proximity to animals and tolerate exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
Flexible availability to work during Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
Share accurate product and pet-care information to help customers make informed choices.
Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and organized store and sales floor.
Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
Create positive shopping experiences that build customer trust and loyalty.
Collaborate with and support teammates.
Assist customers in selecting products and services that meet their pets’ needs.
Educate customers about products, services, and promotions.
Support store sales and service goals.
Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional setups, and daily operational routines.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
