About The Position

The Sales Associate role is responsible for engaging customers, determining their needs, and projecting requirements to provide excellent customer service. Key duties include managing shelves and inventory, maintaining store appearance and cleanliness, and providing fast and friendly service at the cash register. The associate is expected to uphold core values, work as part of a team, and contribute to sales goals.

Requirements

Cashier experience in a similar position or proficiency in a similar task.
Exceptional customer service skills & the ability to help maintain a customer-focused culture.
Ability to use a cash register (point of sale or POS system), computer, telephone, and other equipment as needed.
Willingness to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
Skilled at providing prompt, friendly, and attentive customer service.
Ability to work as part of a team and interact with customers of various socioeconomic levels, persons in differing company roles, vendors, guests, and ACE corporate representatives.
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise.
Maintain assigned department: Keep clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management.
Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to details.
Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, actively participating in daily huddle meetings and sharing ideas for improvement.
Remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required following sales events.
Restock merchandise displays, watch end caps and side wings.
Handle special orders for all non-stock items.
Never tell a customer 'no' without checking with a floor manager, assistant manager, or store manager.
Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy.
Provide the best possible experience for every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
When not with a customer or cleaning, stand in a main aisle to get the best view of customers.
Serve customers in assigned departments or storewide, providing needed advice or information.
Greet customers as soon as you encounter them.
Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
Use the Five Foot Rule – greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet.
Always be polite and attentive to customers, make eye contact, and smile.
Promote the Ace Rewards program, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s), and use the Magic Question.
Always wear your radio and headset for effective communication.
Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed.
Operate a forklift, as needed, in a safe manner for stocking and storing product.
Offer customers a red basket for their shopping use.
Assist in the training and development of peers.
Precisely and accurately handle money, checks, and other types of payment, including processing refunds and issuing in-store merchandise credit.
Perform credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, personal check acceptance, and vendor check-in transactions in accordance with company standards.
Verify the accuracy of the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift and immediately notify management of any inaccuracies.
Be knowledgeable and actively participate in all sales promotions and campaigns.
Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
Be aware of sales goals and performance against those goals.
Review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations.
Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and nametag.
Address customer complaints in a positive manner and document complaints for follow-up.
Ensure work area is free of litter and spills, and that all equipment is sanitized and in working condition.
Face, front, and dust merchandise near the register area.
Follow company policies and procedures for all transactions.
Review and adhere to store safety/emergency procedures.
Perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, restrooms, and other duties as assigned.
Participate in all store sales building, customer service, and team-building activities.
Actively participate in store communication and initiatives.
