Sales Associate - Plumbing & Electric
About The Position
This role involves effectively communicating with customers, management, and employees, receiving and making phone calls, and moving throughout the store to assist customers and perform job tasks. The associate will be responsible for helping customers with plumbing and electric questions, assisting with loss control, safety, and security measures, and reading/comprehending written materials. Key duties include handling special orders for non-stock items, ensuring accuracy in order details, collecting deposits, stocking merchandise, operating equipment like lumber carts and pallet jacks, lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds, assisting customers with large items, and cutting pipe and tubing to customer specifications.
Requirements
- Must be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs., consistently and repetitively.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have an understanding of basic math, and have the ability to count, add and subtract efficiently.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate and explain plumbing and electrical merchandise to customers.
- Must have prior knowledge of plumbing and/or electric.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with customers, management, and employees.
- Receive incoming phone calls and make phone calls to customers and vendors.
- Move throughout the store and/or assigned departments to assist customers and perform assigned job tasks.
- Be alert to all activities within assigned department.
- Help customers with plumbing and electric questions.
- Help in loss control, safety and security measures.
- Read and comprehend written and printed materials, as well as information presented in numerical form.
- Handle special orders for non-stock items, double-checking details like color, size, and price.
- Ensure the customer receives an exact copy of any order and obtain a required deposit on any special order.
- Stock merchandise within the department.
- Safely operate lumber carts, pallet jacks, etc.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Assist customers with large bulky items.
- Cut pipe and tubing to customers' specifications.
