Sales Associate - Cashier
About The Position
The Sales Associate - Cashier is responsible for supporting sales efforts of New to You management team. He/she also assists in sorting, stocking and staging sales items. This position operates in a professional retail environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The role requires the ability to move and/or lift 50 pounds. This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with potential for evening and weekend work as job duties demand. No travel is expected for this position.
Requirements
- Demonstrated competencies in sales, products and service.
- Knowledge of retail merchandising practices.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Solid communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High School degree or equivalent with one year of retail experience.
Nice To Haves
- Associates degree with one to two years of retail experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a polite, professional and cheerful manner and offer them assistance.
- Guide customers who know what they want to the correct section or make suggestions to customers who are not completely sure of what they want.
- Support all backroom efforts as needed or requested to assure donated items are moved to the sales floor in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining the front store areas to assure they are properly stocked, staged, neat, clean and orderly.
- Sort, check, price, stock, and stage donated items.
- Serve as cashier or support cashier as requested or needed. Responsible for accurate accounting of monies received and sales transactions.
