About The Position

The South African Broadcasting Corporation is seeking a Sales Assistant for the Public Sector and Regions division, specifically covering Mpumalanga and Limpopo. The primary purpose of this role is to provide support to the Sales Segment function by working closely with the National Sales Manager, Regional Sales Managers, Key Account Executives, and Account Executives to assist in maximizing revenue. This position is based at the Mpumalanga Provincial Office.

Requirements

  • A relevant higher education qualification (Higher Certificate or National Certificate) at NQF Level 6 or above.
  • Additional accredited courses or certifications in Media, Digital Marketing, Sales, or other related fields at a minimum of NQF Level 6.
  • 2-4 years of sales or sales-related experience, preferably in a media sales environment.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Demonstrated understanding of governance prescripts (if internal).

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining a network internally and externally to ensure prompt and efficient delivery.
  • Answering telephone calls and assisting customers.
  • Directing sales leads to the appropriate member of the sales team.
  • Liaising with clients regarding inquiries, purchase orders, and SBD/Vendor forms.
  • Responding to emails and other forms of correspondence.
  • Following up on material and fighting instructions.
  • Promoting and selling products and services.
  • Explaining promotional offers.
  • Liaising with all internal stakeholders/departments for sales and after-sales support.
  • Assisting with Trade Marketing Initiatives when applicable.

  • Obtaining and listening to audio/visuals and sending them to Sales Teams across allocated provinces.
  • Collecting data from various key internal business stakeholders and completing quarterly sales meeting data templates and presentations.
  • Tracking sales expenses.
  • Retrieving figures for sales reports input.
  • Tracking daily and weekly bookings (Internal Sales Role).
  • Managing the department’s budget, including moving funds for travel, stationery, and refreshments.

  • Arranging and organizing meetings, workshops, events, and conferences.

  • Filing, scanning, and emailing documents.
  • Facilitating and understanding information to ensure thorough knowledge of the agency business and platforms.
  • Liaising with the agency team regarding work commitments and tracking of various clients.
  • Accurate and consistent usage of all sales management systems (e.g., CRM & SAP) to manage the sales processes end-to-end.
  • Assisting the National Sales Manager with the compilation of quarterly reviews and negotiation documentation, including client history.
  • Providing feedback to Senior Management and clients monthly regarding the tracking of commitments.
  • Following up on all correspondence from clients and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Compiling all submissions and term sheets within respective portfolios and managing the long-form contract process.
  • Updating the electronic contracts register/commitment book monthly.
  • Ensuring sound administration and providing weekly and monthly status reporting.
  • Conducting a minimum number of client visits as agreed with the respective line manager.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Maintaining after-sales service by following up to ensure client satisfaction and future business within an agreed timeframe.
  • Preparing the Deal Evaluation and business case, and securing approval.
