About The Position

The Sales and Production Associate will be responsible to perform a variety of duties in the store and the production area. This role involves maintaining order, creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment, and fostering good customer relationships. The position supports the work therapy program by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct and work habits. Depending on store needs, duties may include cashiering, sorting, hanging, tagging, pricing, running merchandise to the sales floor, handling bric-a-brac, shoes, accessories, domestics, books, records, toys, furniture, and electrical items, as well as assisting with donations and general maintenance.

• Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.
• Good customer service skills.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand, walk, reach, and stoop for over 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to climb and sit for under 1/3 of the time.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exhibit loyalty to The Salvation Army and the staff of the Adult Rehabilitation Centers in all job-related matters.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
• Assist, as required, with store operations.
• Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
• Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization.
• Ensure that store is sufficiently stocked and "ragged out" in accordance with the "ARC COMMAND RAG OUT CALENDAR."
• Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
• Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
• Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
• Be well-versed in and comply with store policies as communicated.
• Support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct and work habits.
• Perform cashiering duties including cash handling, sales reports, and bank deposits.
• Sort, price, stock, and "rag out" showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
• Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
• Maintain merchandise displays as directed.
• Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner.
• Sort a minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department.
• Assist moving donations to the sorting table as needed.
• Assist with hanging merchandise as needed.
• Assist running clothing racks as needed.
• Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing on rolling racks from sorting table by department on the correct hanger type, and by category in an 8-hour period.
• Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality, and condition of each piece.
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of name brand merchandise and value.
• Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.
• Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.
• Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
• Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
• Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
• Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
• Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.
• Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
• Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required.
• Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
• Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.
• Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
• Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.
• Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.
• Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas daily.
• Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor.
• Receive and receipt, as per policy, all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities.
• Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
• Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.
• Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.
• Bale ragouts and trash as required.
• Perform lawn and garden work as needed.
