About The Position

LG Chem is a leading global chemical company with a diverse portfolio including petrochemicals, advanced materials, life sciences, and batteries. They offer a range of engineering plastics such as Polycarbonate, PBT, Polyamide, and mPPO, which are used in various industries including automotive, home appliances, and IT devices. This role is for a Technical Sales Manager within the EP Sales team, based in Troy, MI. The primary responsibility is to drive growth in the North American market by developing new customers and expanding the Engineering Plastics business (PC, PBT, PA, mPPO, TPEE). The position involves building strong customer relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting the commercialization of tailored material solutions. Collaboration with internal teams on business strategy and operational effectiveness is also key. This role is suited for a self-motivated individual who can work independently, utilize technical and market insights, and contribute to long-term business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5-10 years of experience in engineered plastics, plastics or chemical/technical products
  • Proven track record of success in B2B sales, ideally within petrochemical manufacturers, distributors, or trading companies focused on engineered plastics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate cross-functionally, and influence stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for Chemical Engineering degree
  • Experience in the polymer business, particularly working with distributors and suppliers
  • Experience in the North American automotive industry
  • Korean language skills
  • Familiarity with SAP (ERP systems)

Responsibilities

  • Develop new customers and expand market opportunities for Engineering Plastics (PC, PBT, PA, mPPO, TPEE) across North America to drive revenue growth
  • Proactively engage with customers through regular meetings and communication to understand requirements, propose solutions, and strengthen long-term relationships
  • Analyze market and industry trends to support effective pricing strategies and maximize sales performance and profitability
  • Oversee and coordinate shipment logistics within SAP to ensure timely and accurate product delivery
  • Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable to minimize aging balances and support timely collections
  • Conduct market research and provide regular insights and reporting on market conditions, customer activity, and competitive landscape
  • Collaborate with headquarters and cross-functional teams to support business expansion and continuous improvement initiatives
