About The Position

LG Chem is seeking a Technical Sales Manager for their EP Sales team in Troy, MI. This role is responsible for driving growth in the North American market by developing new customers and expanding their Engineering Plastics business (PC, PBT, PA, mPPO, TPEE). The position will focus on building strong customer relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting the commercialization of tailored material solutions. The role also requires collaboration with internal teams to align on business strategy and ensure operational effectiveness across sales processes. This opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can operate independently, leverage technical and market insights, and contribute to long-term business growth.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in engineered plastics, plastics or chemical/technical products
  • Proven track record of success in B2B sales, ideally within petrochemical manufacturers, distributors, or trading companies focused on engineered plastics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate cross-functionally, and influence stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in the polymer business, particularly working with distributors and suppliers, is a plus
  • Experience in the North American automotive industry is a plus
  • Korean language skills are a plus to support communication with global stakeholders, including customers and headquarters
  • Familiarity with SAP (ERP systems) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop new customers and expand market opportunities for Engineering Plastics (PC, PBT, PA, mPPO, TPEE) across North America to drive revenue growth
  • Proactively engage with customers through regular meetings and communication to understand requirements, propose solutions, and strengthen long-term relationships
  • Analyze market and industry trends to support effective pricing strategies and maximize sales performance and profitability
  • Oversee and coordinate shipment logistics within SAP to ensure timely and accurate product delivery
  • Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable to minimize aging balances and support timely collections
  • Conduct market research and provide regular insights and reporting on market conditions, customer activity, and competitive landscape
  • Collaborate with headquarters and cross-functional teams to support business expansion and continuous improvement initiatives
