Safety Technician
About The Position
The Safety Technician upholds safe work performance, values, and culture while helping ensure safe production in support of company objectives. The role serves as a safety and compliance subject matter expert for employees and contract partners and works with site leaders and the Safety Manager to promote safe daily work. The Safety Technician trains new employees, provides refresher training, participates in or conducts daily crew safety briefings and meetings, and performs inspections and site safety audits. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- At least three years of progressive responsibility in an industrial health and safety role.
- Strong familiarity with OSHA.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to communicate professionally in written and verbal form.
- Familiarity with Microsoft programs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
- Ability to walk on uneven, wet, or slippery ground and work in inclement weather.
- Ability to periodically lift items weighing approximately 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Strong computer skills.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Previous experience as a Safety Aid First Commander.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for employees and contract partners regarding safety and compliance.
- Work with site leaders and the Safety Manager to ensure employees conduct their daily work safely.
- Train new employees and provide refresher training to existing employees on safe work practices and proactive identification of safety hazards.
- Participate in or conduct daily crew safety briefings or meetings and inspections.
- Perform site safety audits.
- Wear proper PPE at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
