About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is seeking a seasonal Safety Technician to ensure the safety and well-being of employees and facilities. This role is crucial in implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. The Safety Technician will be responsible for meeting safety objectives, including conducting inspections and audits, distributing personal protective equipment, and administering First Aid at the TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. The company has been processing high-quality tomatoes and fruit for over 50 years and operates three production facilities.

Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience in a safety environment; preferably in a manufacturing operation; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position.
  • Good skills using Microsoft Office applications; Excel and Word required; proficient in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR or able to be certified with company.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas, equipment, and facilities to identify potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Assist in investigating and documenting accidents, near misses, incidents, and product spills, identifying the root cause, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incidents.
  • Assist in emergency response procedures and drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies or disasters.
  • Serve as a resource for employees, addressing their safety concerns and providing guidance.
