About The Position

Global – a 1st Flagship Company, a woman-owned small business, is committed to Individual Accountability, Growth, Integrity, and Respect. They provide critical marine support services to the U.S. Navy, managing and maintaining the Inactive Ship fleet across multiple locations, including Pearl Harbor. They are currently seeking a motivated and safety-focused Safety / Environmental / Hazardous Material Technician to support environmental compliance, workplace safety, and hazardous material operations at their Pearl Harbor site.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of education related to hazardous materials, environmental science, occupational safety, or a related field, and two (2) years of relevant experience, or equivalent military experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Ability to qualify within 90 days of hire in the following areas: Shipyard Competent Person (Gas-Free) Certification, AHERA Building Inspector Certification, 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification, Forklift Operator Qualification, Medical qualification to wear a negative pressure respirator.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prepare clear written reports.
  • General computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail in a safety-sensitive environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CONFIDENTIAL Security Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to safely perform inspections aboard vessels, including climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and working around industrial operations.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10-Hour Maritime Card.
  • Experience with wastewater sampling and analysis in accordance with OPNAVINST 5090.1 guidelines.
  • Familiarity with OSHA Maritime and General Industry Standards, environmental regulations, and hazardous material handling requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting daily waterfront inspections and annual vessel/facility safety and hazard inspections.
  • Performing safety inspections involving hot work, oil transfer operations, hazardous materials, ballast operations, and rainwater pumping activities.
  • Conducting atmospheric testing for safe personnel entry and hot work in enclosed and confined spaces.
  • Supporting asbestos, preservation, mold remediation, and environmental compliance operations.
  • Identifying, collecting, sampling, and analyzing hazardous materials and waste including oil, oily water, asbestos, PCBs, lead, and mercury.
  • Conducting heat stress monitoring and workplace noise surveys.
  • Managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage and disposal operations, including operation of the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area.
  • Preparing reports related to safety inspections, discrepancies, and environmental findings.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental, Navy, and company safety regulations and procedures.
  • Working closely with employees, supervisors, contractors, and government representatives to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Traveling as necessary, including occasional out-of-country travel, in support of company operations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned in support of safe and compliant site operations.
