The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. EOIS develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles and airborne platforms. Responsible for assigned system safety engineering activities and completion of work products on time and to technical requirements. Develops, analyzes, documents, and supports safety work products, hazard analyses, and hazard tracking activities in support of products, systems, and subsystems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned system safety engineering activities and complete work products on time and to required quality.
  • Develop and update safety program documents, analyses, and hazard tracking artifacts.
  • Perform hazard identification, hazard analysis, risk assessment, and mitigation tracking activities under program direction.
  • Maintain hazard records, hazard tracking systems, and traceability from hazard through mitigation and closure evidence.
  • Support preparation of safety assessments, review materials, ESOH content, and related customer-facing artifacts.
  • Support hazardous materials, prohibited materials, and compliance reporting activities as required.
  • Coordinate with systems, hardware, software, test, manufacturing, program teams, subcontractors, and customers to obtain inputs and resolve assigned safety actions.
  • Provide status, schedule, and technical reporting for assigned safety tasks.
  • May provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings.
  • Plan, execute, and document system safety engineering activities across the product lifecycle.
  • Identify safety requirements and perform hazard identification, hazard analyses, and risk assessments to define and verify mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and maintain hazard tracking, including traceability from hazard to mitigation, verification, and risk acceptance.
  • Coordinate safety issue resolution with Integrated Product Teams and support safety reviews and customer/subcontractor flow-down activities.
