About The Position

The Beaver Companies are looking for a Safety Supervisor to join our growing team. This position is responsible for providing safety support to construction employees at an assigned project site. Upon completion of the initial assignment, additional travel and project-based assignments throughout Ohio and surrounding states may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Interest in construction and/or industrial safety
  • Familiar with applicable health and safety requirements of all governing legislation
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • OSHA 30-hour certification - required
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR
  • Must be willing to attend additional training, as needed

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Refinery experience - preferred
  • OSHA 500/510-hour certification - preferred
  • College degree in Environmental Health and Safety or similar program - a plus
  • MSHA Certification - a plus
  • Traffic Control Certification - a plus

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with site supervisors, foremen, and employees
  • Records and submits Safety & Training Records
  • Checks for fire extinguishers, first aid, spill kits and so on
  • Reviews and audits 811-One Call markings, overhead/buried signs, electrical caution signs, barricades, work zones, road conditions and so on
  • Documents Safety Alerts, Near Misses, Accidents and Near-misses in the field
  • Conducts meetings such as training, toolbox talks and safety stand up
  • Reviews safety policies and monitors for compliance
  • Conducts training on correct procedure for air monitors
  • Creates and maintains site specific safety plans
  • Checks crane daily’s, monthly’s, CCO’s, assembly/disassembly
  • Provides employees with PPE needs and addresses safety concerns
  • Maintains all posters for BWC, OSHA and Emergency Contact
  • Conducts checks for job-site cleanliness/organization
  • Apply First Aid to employee injuries per company policies
  • Reviews and audits Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Assesses job site hazards and is responsible for halting work until a problem or situation is corrected per the OSHA, MSHA, Customer or Beaver requirements
  • Demonstrates initiative and professionalism
