About The Position

The Safety Supervisor / Recruiter is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, and supporting professional drivers while promoting a strong culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence at the St. Remi terminal. This hands-on role partners closely with Operations to attract and retain qualified drivers, conduct road tests and coaching, investigate safety events, and ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company standards.

Requirements

  • Fully bilingual in French and English, written and verbal.
  • Valid Class 1 / Class 1A driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 3 years of transportation industry experience in safety, compliance, recruiting, training, or fleet operations.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety compliance requirements.
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding professional drivers.
  • Ability to conduct road tests, driver evaluations, ride-alongs, and driver coaching.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills.
  • Ability to travel within Quebec as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Class 1 driver recruitment in Quebec and surrounding regions.
  • Experience conducting collision investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of SAAQ, FMCSA, DOT, CVOR, Hours of Service, ELDs, and transportation safety best practices.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, recruiting systems, transportation systems, and telematics platforms.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with drivers, owner-operators, Operations, Safety, Compliance, and HR teams.
  • Training, coaching, or instructional experience within the transportation industry is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, interview, and hire qualified company drivers and owner-operators.
  • Conduct driver road tests, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing driver support.
  • Review driver qualifications, abstracts, employment history, and safety records to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain driver qualification files and regulatory compliance records.
  • Investigate collisions, incidents, customer complaints, and safety concerns.
  • Coach drivers on safety, compliance, and performance improvement.
  • Monitor Hours of Service, driver performance, regulatory compliance, and safety trends.
  • Deliver safety meetings, driver coaching sessions, and remedial training programs.
  • Partner with Operations to improve hiring, retention, safety performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare recruiting, onboarding, training, and safety reports and KPI updates.
  • Support regulatory audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the local safety and recruiting resource for the St. Remi terminal.
