About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Safety Specialist Sales Representative in the Total Access Division: Call Center, located in Duluth, GA. This role focuses on generating and maintaining sales, gross profit growth, and new account activation through proactive customer engagement, primarily via telephone. The position involves managing existing customer accounts, pursuing new business opportunities, and actively managing a sales pipeline. Collaboration with Regional Company District Managers, Store Personnel, and Field Account Managers is essential. Success will be driven by proactive customer outreach, effective negotiation, and strategic territory planning using the company's CRM system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 3 years Safety Sales experience at Airgas.
  • Associates must hold safety as the utmost priority.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures, including those assigned annually through Airgas University detailing specific rules around Safety, IT Security, Antitrust - Global Competition Principles and Practices, Avoiding Fraud, etc.
  • Be on the phone with customers approximately 40% of their day.
  • Continue to enhance skills through self-study and coaching sessions.
  • Use the company’s enterprise resource planning system, SAP, to document sales quotes and orders.
  • Follow all tactical procedures as defined by the training team.
  • Work with the BSC Credit Department to ensure customer accounts are kept up to date so that payment due reflects accurately.
  • Use the company’s CRM system, Salesforce.com, as a sales planning tool.
  • Aggregated opportunities should total well beyond daily goal to ensure a strong sales pipeline.
  • Document cases that illustrate where business is at risk, or has been lost.
  • Work with Sales Managers to enhance call technique through self-monitoring.
  • Be an engaged participant in Team and Departmental Meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain sales, gross profit growth, and new account activation through proactive pursuit of customers predominantly through the telephone.
  • Maintain and grow existing customer sales volume.
  • Pursue prospective customers to gain new account business.
  • Actively manage the sales pipeline.
  • Collaborate effectively with Regional Company District Managers, Store Personnel, and Field Account Managers.
  • Gain business through proactive customer touch, effective negotiation, and deliberate territory planning using the company’s CRM system.
  • Make proactive telephone calls to stay connected with existing customers and pursue new account prospect opportunities.
  • Proactively make outbound sales calls to support the achievement of the key gross margin growth goal.
  • Manage territory effectively by speaking with customers at regular intervals (monthly).
  • Receive inbound phone calls from customers and provide courteous professional service to ensure a high-quality experience.
  • Manage call path control through effective negotiation of fair pricing while protecting Airgas profitability.
  • Attend all training sessions required by Management to remain current on product knowledge, competitive information, sales skills, software changes, and new procedures.
  • Use the company’s enterprise resource planning system, SAP, to document sales quotes and orders.
  • Follow all tactical procedures as defined by the training team.
  • Accommodate customer returns and credits as necessary.
  • Work with the BSC Credit Department to ensure customer accounts are kept up to date.
  • Use the company’s CRM system, Salesforce.com, as a sales planning tool, including logging accurate contact information, capturing customer details, and using the opportunity object to manage retention and growth.
  • Document cases that illustrate where business is at risk or has been lost.
  • Utilize value-added tools such as emarket capabilities, airgas.com, marketing materials, and the Field Specialist Network when needed and justified to meet customer needs.
  • Work with Sales Managers to enhance call technique through self-monitoring.
  • Strategize on budgeting and territory planning.
  • Assist with training or mentoring peers upon request.
  • Be an engaged participant in Team and Departmental Meetings.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned.
