Safety Specialist I
About The Position
At Centrus Energy, the Safety Specialist champions safe practices and helps ensure that employees, contractors, and facilities operate in compliance with industrial safety standards. The role partners with plant personnel and contractors to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards; leads safety training and pre-job briefings; and reviews work procedures to incorporate industrial safety requirements. Responsibilities also include job hazard analyses, accident investigations, injury reporting, and compliance checks. The position has authority to stop work when risks arise and helps maintain a safe, healthy, and efficient work environment.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of safety experience.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
- Successful candidates are expected to have a proactive approach to identifying risks and developing practical, people-first solutions.
- Strong communication skills to train, influence, and inspire teams.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, with at least 6 years of experience.
- Background in Industrial Hygiene.
- Currently holding an active Q-level security clearance.
