About The Position

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs and policies. This role involves conducting regular safety audits, investigating incidents, designing and delivering training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations. The specialist will also perform risk assessments, implement emergency response plans, and serve as a primary point of contact for safety-related matters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge) issued by the Department of Homeland Security
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in safety or training role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and presentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and safety audits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in both office and field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Maintain training records and ensure all employees receive required safety training.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Keep up to date with changes in safety regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills.
  • Coordinate with management to develop and enforce safety policies.
  • Communicate safety policies and procedures to all employees.
  • Prepare and present safety reports to management.
  • Serve as a point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns.
