About The Position

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Safety Specialist. The Safety Specialist reports to the Assistant Public Works Director. The primary functions of this position include: Administer and deliver safety training programs across all Public Works divisions, including facilitation of 30-hour OSHA courses. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, job hazard analyses, and training materials to keep the department ahead of compliance requirements. Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses for all injuries and property damage events, driving corrective action and continuous improvement. Coordinate with department leaders and the Town's Safety Coordinator on safety issues, inspections, and regulatory compliance across OSHA, ADOSH, and FMCSA standards. Manage all safety-related documentation, including employee certifications, inspection records, and required regulatory filings.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and three years of experience in safety, Public Works, or a related field — or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  • Certified OSHA 30-hour for construction and/or general industry (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • Pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen
