About The Position

As a Safety Specialist I you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and management of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local HSE regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledgeable with a variety of occupational health & safety standards, EPA, OSHA, and NFPA regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct a job hazard analysis, site audits, and incident root cause analysis.
  • Fluency with data capture, data analytics, spreadsheets, and presentation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with DCMA INST 8210.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Certifications, including Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on HSE practices and procedures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.
  • Support emergency response planning and coordination.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and other safety-related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HSE regulations.
