Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • BLS through the American Heart Association required
  • Ability to learn new tasks, follow written and verbal instructions, make judgments, work well with a variety of people
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; well organized and able to multi-task
  • Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in client condition
  • Hearing sufficient to interact with client who may be unable to speak at normal voice level
  • Sufficient mobility and dexterity to assist patients with call lights, side rails and to react appropriately to confused or agitated patients until assistance arrives

Nice To Haves

  • De-escalation training preferred
  • Six months previous CNA or EMT experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct observation of the patient to maintain safety.
  • Utilizes specialized training, de-escalation techniques and other interventions as applicable to create a therapeutic and calming environment for patients.
  • Communicates patient mental and/or physical status changes to the primary Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Leader.
  • Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.
