About The Position

Manages planning, development, implementation, and oversight for safety, security and transportation programs for the Center. Sets and maintains professional and ethical standards among department personnel. Directs staff engaged in providing safety & security for the center. Directly manages security officers, safety officer, and drivers. Ensures the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property. Supervises center patrols of buildings and grounds throughout the week to achieve maximum security. This includes, but is not limited to, fires, safety hazards, traffic violations and disturbances. Establish rules and procedures regulating the entry, exit, and conduct of persons who seek access to the campus. Develops and implements mandated safety plans and procedures. Schedule and conduct evaluation drills, fire drills, active shooter drills, etc. as required by the PRH. Meet with new staff and student to explain the center's policies and procedures regarding unauthorized goods, searches, and seizures. Oversees coordination of Center's safety and fire prevention programs. Provides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained. Provides vehicle checks to entering or exiting traffic. Prepare departmental Work Schedules. Conducts and documents annual self-assessment of safety, security, and transportation functions transportation. Provides oversight and support to the Center Safety program. Maintains adequate transportation and general travel services and maintenance of all motor vehicles and equipment. Investigates vehicle accidents involving center vehicles. Prepares written accident reports and other reports as required. Updates the Automated Tracking System (ATS) to outline corrective action taken to remedy deficiencies noted during OSH inspections. Prepares for the conduct of annual OSH inspections and quarterly environmental health inspections. Drafts Significant Incident Reports as required. Develop and implement procedures to use on-center isolation facilities for temporary segregation of students from their peers only when behavior constitutes an immediate threat to themselves, other persons, or property. Coordinates with management to remedy deficiencies noted on corporate and DOL trip reports, assessments, center inspections, and quarterly environmental health inspections. Establish a public relationship with the local community, local law enforcement, and local fire department. Conducts and documents staff training in safety & security as outlined in the center's annual staff training plan. Ensures a weekly center-wide safety walk thru is conducted and a report sent to the Center Director. Schedules foot patrols all assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons and other unusual conditions. Performs building security and safety checks. Works toward meeting performance management goals. Adheres to required property control policies and procedures. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices. Holds regular staff meetings at least twice a month, document meetings, and submit documentation to Center Director. Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. Screens and attempts to solve all student problems before referring them to the Center Director or other areas. Demonstrates and abides by Serrato Corporation's core values and operating principles. Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement. Continual support, and adherence to the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system which ensures that the ePCDP is used in a timely, continual, and effective manner to help support students. Evaluates personnel under his/her management and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions, and/or merit increases. Participation in PRH mandated staff training is mandatory. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Computer Literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety and security procedures and compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management abilities.
  • High level of leadership and management skills.
  • Minimum of three years security, law enforcement, military, or related experience.
  • One-year supervisory experience.
  • Valid State Driver's License - Class CDL.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience in a residential setting and background in youth programs preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, homeland security, or related field preferred.
  • Safety related training preferred.
