Safety & Security Officer - UMMC - North Street Campus, Security (Full-Time, Evenings)
About The Position
The role plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across Rochester Regional Health facilities. Responsibilities include patrolling assigned areas, monitoring facility access, assisting patients and visitors, and responding to both routine and emergency situations. Officers are expected to deter aggression, enforce safety protocols, and communicate effectively with diverse populations. This position requires professionalism under pressure and a strong commitment to customer service and public safety.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months experience in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military, or Security
- NYS Security Guard License required
- Valid NYS Driver’s License

Responsibilities
- Complete required security training, certifications, and shadowing to learn hospital policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Assist with patrols, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and emergency drills while gaining hands-on experience.
- Identify and report hazards, participate in fire safety checks, and support patient and visitor safety initiatives.
- Prepare clear, accurate incident and activity reports while learning investigatory and documentation practices.
- Uphold hospital values, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively under guidance to develop into a fully independent Security Officer.
