About The Position

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for leading-by-example to create a positive, proactive safety culture, identifying risks, assessing how serious or severe the risks are and determining ways to minimize or eliminate the impact of negative events while avoiding harm and related financial losses to the organization. The Safety Supervisor focuses on those events or occurrences that may cause injury or harm to the company’s employees, its assets, and its reputation.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with company standards
  • 3-5 years of OSHA or Safety Leadership experience
  • 5 years’ experience as EMT or Paramedic
  • Experience in trend analysis for health and safety data, including calculation of incident rates. health and safety data, including calculation of incident rates.
  • Working knowledge of the Workers Compensation regulations in Florida.
  • Experience developing and administrating training and education to provide for a safer work environment.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent risk management experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and claims processing
  • Previous experience developing training curriculum, and teaching/training in EMS.

Responsibilities

  • Track, Identify, and analyze all safety and health incidents to identify high risk areas and procedures.
  • Implement appropriate education and training processes to decrease incidents and to increase safety.
  • Maintain a safe work environment to include safety inspections, quarterly safety meetings, data driven education and changes, and monthly safety education.
  • Work with the Clinical Manager to perform Emergency Vehicle Operator Course and stretcher training during all New Employee Academies, and annual provider skill assessments.
  • Identifies areas of risk for the Company and develops solutions to mitigate.
  • Develop monthly safety campaigns with a focused topic relevant to current local safety concerns, events, seasons, or National safety observances to promote a safe working environment in all departments. This should include posters, videos, quizzes, etc.
  • Review safety related cases and determine the root cause of each incident.
  • Develop monthly “Safety Cards” with talking points for utilization of the driver monitoring system, and to identify at-risk behaviors by crew members, coach crew members to re-educate them on safe operations in vehicles, lifting, and stretcher operations.
  • Identify positive driving, lifting, moving behaviors by crew members, and recognize those positive behaviors thru the STAR Program.
  • Maintain all regulatory compliance related to safety and risk management issues, including but not limited to SDS maintenance and OSHA reporting.
  • Responsible for conducting and reviewing safety related incident investigations (employee injuries, vehicle accidents, patient injuries, patient drops, etc.) investigations and findings as well as reporting and management of claims file.
  • Manages the workers compensation program; collaborates with Human Resources Manager to ensure all required information has been received.
  • Responsible for maintaining Company accounts with local urgent care/occupational medicine facilities; communicates with the facilities on current and past workers compensation cases.
  • Responsible for conducting initial and annual mask fit testing for all employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining employee health events in NinthBrain including: Respiratory questionnaires and fit tests -Tuberculosis Skin Tests or X-Rays if required, -Flu vaccination or declinations, -Hepatitis B vaccination or declination Work along with the local management team and the Corporate Director of Safety and Risk to ensure that all proper and required documentation is in the case files for all worker’s compensation, and safety related legal claims made against the organization and its representatives.
  • Assist COO and Operations Staff with preparation of presentation materials.
  • Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents; prepare background documents and outgoing mail as necessary, Prepare and manage pipeline/forecast.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
