This position provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–East’s comprehensive safety and risk management program. The role is responsible for developing and enforcing safety policies, investigating accidents and claims, coordinating safety training, conducting inspections and audits, maintaining regulatory and certification records, and recommending measures to reduce workplace risks and prevent future incidents. The position also supervises administrative and facility-related activities, supports emergency and storm operations, manages staff performance and development, and prepares budgets, reports, schedules, and cost estimates. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage complex safety, regulatory, and operational responsibilities. Key competencies include accident investigation, risk assessment, policy development, training and presentation skills, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, emergency response coordination, budgeting, recordkeeping, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees, management, law enforcement personnel, and other stakeholders.
