This role involves assisting the HS&E Department in ensuring compliance with Austal Safety Policies, Austal Fire and Flooding Plan, Corporate, State, and Federal regulations and guidelines regarding occupational safety & health. The Safety Representative II will work with employees on safety issues and risk/accident prevention concerns, perform site and equipment inspections, assist in accident investigations, and conduct safety surveys and comprehensive on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. The position also involves recommending corrective actions, providing first response medical assistance, calibrating and using air monitoring equipment, conducting monthly inspection programs, and extinguishing fires at the incipient stage. Additionally, the role requires responding to and mitigating hazardous materials spills, working collaboratively with other safety personnel, and performing other related duties as assigned, such as operating on-board fire suppression systems and conducting health, safety, and environmental workplace investigations.
