About The Position

The global Automotive Safety Office Strategy, Policy, and Rulemaking team is responsible for establishing policies, strategies, and providing independent oversight to ensure vehicle compliance, enhance real-world safety, and protect the corporate reputation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive, or a related technical field).
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive engineering, regulatory compliance, or systems engineering.
  • Proven ability to read, interpret, and synthesize complex legal/technical documents (e.g., Federal Register notices or international standards) into actionable engineering requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize technical compliance issues for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel for data analysis/tracking and PowerPoint for executive-level reporting).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines (aligned with vehicle program milestones).
  • Candidates for positions with Ford Motor Company must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

  • Knowledge of FMVSS, ECE and GB regulations for Tires, Wheels, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems, Vehicle Mass, and Event Data Recorders
  • Experience in Product Development (PD) and/or Vehicle Homologation & Compliance (VH&C)
  • Knowledge of regulatory or industry standard development
  • Knowledge of GPDS deliverables, program development and compliance processes
  • Experience with authoring requirements and/or test procedures within Ford system

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and regulatory support for: Tires, Wheels, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems, Vehicle Mass, and Event Data Recorders
  • Review and concur on engineering Compliance Demonstration Plans (CDPs)
  • Support program homologation for global markets, including local witness testing
  • Develop safety strategies and guidelines to enhance real-world safety performance
  • Work with external agencies such as AFAI (Alliance for Automotive Innovation), SAE, and NHTSA to influence and shape future protocols
  • Provide interpretations on existing safety requirements and establish a safety point of view
  • Participate in Safety Governance forums within ASO
  • Forecast and communicate vehicle requirements using FEDE software.
