About The Position

The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist provide oversight of all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and works with managers to ensure employees are complying with all applicable government, corporate and customer policies and procedures. Serves as the focal point for site environmental and safety compliance and as a resource to management to provide scientific or technical guidance for EHS programs.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent and minimum of two (2) years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field is required.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Position may require travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of specialized courses in the Environmental Health and Safety field is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Performs regular safety inspections and surveillances, and formal environmental and safety audits to ensure contract requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Evaluates violations or problems discovered during inspections to provide advice to management on implementing changes to be compliant with corporate and government EHS policies.
  • Follows up to make sure they are effective and followed by employees.
  • Reviews the site-specific EHS plans and procedures to establish validity and any need for amendment.
  • Investigates spills and accidents and prepares reports for submission to the customer.
  • Investigates personal incidents and vehicle accidents to determine root cause and any corrective actions to prevent a repeat occurrence.
  • Manages and administers compliance with all federal, corporate and customer environmental protection programs including required OSHA specific programs.
  • Recommends, implements, and assists in the execution of a variety of workplace safety, industrial hygiene, and safety training programs to prevent injury and occupational illness.
  • Coordinates safety committee meetings.
  • Produces and disseminates safety committee meeting minutes and tracks action items to completion.
  • Monitors the use and storage of hazardous materials in the workplace and researches the practicality of environmentally friendly alternatives.
  • Monitors the generation, storage, and turn-in of regulated waste.
  • Responsible to administer the Environmental Protection Program and the Respiratory Protection Program.
  • Collect the site Hazardous Material Report and Safety Report for submission as required.
  • Performs other qualified duties as assigned.
