About The Position

The Safety Programs & Systems Manager is a corporate leadership role responsible for developing, governing, and continuously improving Baker Electric’s enterprise safety programs, management systems, technology, and assurance practices. The role partners across corporate and operational teams to establish consistent, scalable, and effective safety processes that support Baker’s electrical construction operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in safety, EHS management systems, program management, safety assurance, continuous improvement, construction safety, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving safety programs, standards, procedures, or management-system processes across multiple locations, projects, or business units.
  • Hands-on experience administering or owning EHS/Safety Management software, including workflows, forms, reporting, user administration, and system optimization.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including developing KPIs, dashboards, trend analysis, and management reporting to support decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements and construction safety management principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical safety requirements into practical business processes and brief senior leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively across corporate and field functions, influence without direct authority, manage competing priorities, and exercise independent judgment on matters of significance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with EHS platforms, Power BI, HRIS, project-management systems, or similar enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President - Safety and Safety leadership to translate enterprise safety strategy into prioritized programs, initiatives, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the development, review, standardization, and continuous improvement of corporate safety programs, policies, procedures, standards, forms, and supporting tools.
  • Assess current-state safety processes and identify opportunities to simplify workflows, eliminate duplication, improve consistency, strengthen controls, and increase field adoption.
  • Lead cross-functional safety improvement initiatives from concept through implementation, including scope, stakeholder alignment, change management, milestones, performance measures, and sustainment.
  • Establish program governance, review cycles, version control, ownership, and change-management processes to keep safety programs current, effective, and aligned with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Monitor emerging safety practices, technology, regulatory developments, and industry trends and recommend strategic improvements appropriate for Baker’s operations.
  • Serve as business owner and primary Safety administrator for the company’s safety management platform and related digital safety tools.
  • Partner with Information Technology and business stakeholders on integrations between safety systems and enterprise platforms such as HRIS, project management, learning management, analytics, and other operational systems.
  • Translate business and field requirements into scalable digital workflows for incidents, inspections, observations, corrective actions, audits, training records, equipment or asset inspections, and other safety processes.
  • Lead implementation and optimization efforts for new safety technology, including requirements gathering, vendor coordination, testing, deployment, training, adoption, and post-implementation evaluation.
  • Manage relationships with safety technology vendors and evaluate platform performance, roadmap, service levels, user experience, and opportunities to improve return on investment.
  • Develop and maintain a risk-based safety assurance framework to evaluate implementation and effectiveness of corporate safety programs, critical controls, and management-system requirements.
  • Design and coordinate program audits, management-system assessments, compliance reviews, and targeted assurance activities in partnership with field and corporate Safety leadership.
  • Evaluate whether corrective actions address underlying causes and establish processes to verify timely closure and sustained effectiveness.
  • Use assurance results as an input to program updates, training priorities, system enhancements, and annual safety strategy.
  • Establish data standards and governance practices that improve the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and usability of safety information.
  • Develop and maintain leading and lagging indicators, scorecards, dashboards, and performance measures that provide actionable visibility to Safety, Operations, and executive leadership.
  • Partners with analytics and technology teams to enable reliable reporting through tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Fabric and to reduce manual or duplicative reporting processes.
  • Analyze incident, observation, inspection, audit, corrective-action, and other safety data to identify trends, systemic risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Create project plans, roadmaps, milestones, ownership structures, and success measures for strategic safety initiatives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional working groups and stakeholder meetings to design, implement, and sustain safety improvements.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to convert program and assurance needs into effective training, communication, and competency solutions.
  • Maintain an enterprise view of active safety initiatives to manage priorities, dependencies, accountability, and organizational change.
