Under minimal supervision and administrative direction, the Safety Program Manager is responsible for providing oversight of safety and health technical regulatory and policy issues for TAA departments. This role assists in the management of an airport-wide safety, health loss control and prevention program at Tucson International Airport (TUS) and Ryan Airfield (RYN). The position is responsible for the oversight of all OSHA and safety related training programs within the TAA, including tracking and re-certification compliance. Additionally, the Safety Program Manager is responsible for reporting safety, operational and process-oriented results, and to provide systems analysis and process improvement recommendations. A key responsibility is to develop, implement, and manage the FAA mandated Safety Management System (SMS), including comprehensive safety policies, safety risk management, safety assurance, safety promotion, and an occupational health and safety program. This role provides consultation and expertise and exercises functional authority over TAA staff in essential matters of occupational safety, risk, and health.
