About The Position

Maine Drilling & Blasting (MD&B) is seeking a Safety Professional responsible for the local market. This role involves ensuring on-site compliance with regulatory agencies such as MSHA, OSHA, BATF, DOT, DEP, and local state & town regulatory agencies. The primary goal is to foster a strong safety culture and ensure that divisions and operations adhere to applicable regulations and company standards. Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and establish mutual trust quickly.
  • Ability to ask thoughtful questions and take a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Proven understanding of safety principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Knowledge to identify general safety hazards and ensure that all team members are aligned.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, record keeping, and injury management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associates degree or higher is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience within the construction industry is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety observations at jobsites, magazines, & shops to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards (MSHA; OSHA; DOT; BATF; DEP; state & local regulatory agencies).
  • Document non-compliant conditions, responsible persons, and actions required.
  • Distribute safety observation reports to responsible division or operation and collaborate to correct conditions found.
  • Correct non-compliant conditions at the time of observation when able.
  • Collaborate and assist with incident investigations.
  • Facilitate WC claim submission.
  • Assist employees in utilizing a return-to-work program.
  • Maintain consistent communication with their Regional Safety Manager/Supervisor to establish priorities and ensure strategic safety goals are achieved.
  • Demonstrate a strong safety focus, emphasizing that the safety and health of all employees is paramount to ensuring everyone makes it home safely.
  • Communicate the message of the Company Safety Vision and Values.
