Safety Partner - Emergency Department (ED) - (Part-Time)
About The Position
Sentara Virginia Beach GH Emergency Department is hiring a Safety Partner to join their team! This is a Part-Time position (24hrs) working Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7a to 7p. The Safety Partner assists with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors, enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay. The Emergency Department is a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with 6 beds dedicated to a lock down psychiatric screening and treatment area. It is a stroke certified ED that receives STEMI and psychiatric patients, treating about 150 patients per day with a dedicated radiology suite for plain film and CT imaging. The team consists of a diverse nursing and ED Tech staff.
Requirements
- High School Grad or Equivalent
- BLS required within 90 days of hire.
- Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health sciences program strongly preferred.
- Background with mental health/behavioral health is a plus!
- Core competencies for all safety partners to include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide.
