As a Safety Operator, you will be a dedicated, on-the-ground presence responsible for monitoring daily field operations, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and identifying workplace hazards. Working closely with the site EH&S team, you will conduct daily inspections, verify work permits, and help maintain a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 to 3+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial safety field observation
  • OSHA-30 Hour (General Industry or Construction) required
  • Strong communication skills to politely and firmly enforce safety rules on the floor
  • Results-oriented and perseverant

  • Technically proficient and motivated to continuously improve
  • Basic computer literacy for logging daily safety inspection reports (MS Office / basic data entry)
  • Skilled in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support entire production team

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a technical or safety-related field is a plus
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification and Safety training (NFPA, HAZMAT, HAZWOPER, MEWP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct continuous field-level safety inspections and walkthroughs across active manufacturing/construction areas
  • Verify Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and safety controls for high-risk tasks (LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, Heights)
  • Monitor employee and contractor adherence to site safety rules, including proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage
  • Exercise immediate Stop Work Authority (SWA) when imminent dangers or severe safety violations are observed
  • Log, document, and report daily unsafe conditions, near-misses, and unsafe acts to EHS Leadership
  • Assist with site safety orientation, Toolbox Talks (TBT), and emergency response support as needed
  • Deliver and support safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Ensure timely communication and escalation of safety concerns to leadership and appropriate stakeholders
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, response planning, and post-event critiques
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness verification
  • Assist with new hire orientation, contractor safety management, and other Health & Safety training programs
  • Conduct workplace inspections, compliance evaluations, and audits to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned
