About The Position

A Safety Operations Manager is responsible for providing professional administrative support to their assigned team and safety knowledge to the company. They should have a high stress tolerance, be self-regulating, possess both reliability and consistency, be able to learn and problem solve well, be able to multi-task, and have excellent organizational skills. Candidates should have excellent customer service & leadership skills and must be outcome oriented. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential.

Requirements

  • Administrative experience in a corporate setting.
  • Detailed oriented with good analytical skills.
  • Must be computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to write, speak, and interact clearly and professionally.
  • Extremely organized.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
  • Can handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

  • Experience in a human resources department a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all employees of Martin Concrete and their subsidiaries work to ensure we keep injuries to a minimum.
  • Insure that all assigned projects have a trained and competent Onsite Safety Coordinator.
  • Perform monthly documented safety inspection of all assigned jobsites. In addition, complete safety checks for your individual projects routinely. Therefore, ensuring Martin Concrete stays in compliance with their safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Ensure that all assigned projects follow OSHA and Martin Concrete Safety Policies and standards.
  • Assist any foreman or superintendent in developing his/her safety knowledge, skills, and training needed to maintain a safe project.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with the Safety Management Team to maintain Martin Concrete’s company safety culture and an acceptable EMR insurance rating.
  • Develop and implement processes to achieve this requirement.
  • Work, develop, and communicate with your assigned Onsite Safety Coordinators to train and advance their safety knowledge and skills.
  • Providing them with the resources they need to assist the superintendent to keep the safest project possible.
  • Routinely inspect projects safety documentation to ensure all documents are completed, correct, up to date, and in order.
  • Possess a complete understanding and ability to train on the Martin Concrete Corporate Safety Program.
  • Ensure that all of Martin Concrete personnel and subcontractors are in compliance with OSHA and Martin PPE/Image Standards.
  • Personal delivery of PPE or other safety materials may be necessary at times.
  • Assist field personnel with conducting or ideas for weekly “Toolbox Talks” or JSA meetings.
  • Explore ways to have the employees interact in the meetings.
  • Keep stock of safety materials/tools/ supplies that may be needed.
  • Order and communicate with other Safety Managers about items ordered or needed.
  • Manage and oversee employee injuries, equipment damage, and/or auto incidents of your assigned team.
  • Collect, submit documents, and work with the insurance company to ensure injuries are processed and handled properly.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, filing, and copying that the safety department may need.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system of employee safety records.
  • Maintain and file employee training information in employee training spreadsheets and hard and digital files.
  • Answer calls from customers and/or internal team members regarding their safety inquiries.
  • Prepare documents including correspondence, reports, training documents, emails, etc.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for the safety department.
  • Maintain office supplies and assist in a team effort in keeping a clean office.
  • Assist in resolving employee safety concerns and communicate these with the safety department team members.
  • Create and implement site-specific safety documents for their designated projects.
  • Work and develop ways to make these better and more efficient over time.
  • Attend and participate as the “safety” representative in all company meetings that are assigned to you and/or your team.
  • Ensure that all safety boxes have a surplus of blank safety forms.
  • Schedule and perform necessary employee training/testing to meet company and OSHA requirements.
  • Provide your assigned team’s superintendents and safety coordinators routine updates of necessary training needed and/or scheduled for their crew members.
  • Assist Executive Safety Operations Manager & other Safety Operations Managers in creating ways to continuously improve the company safety culture.
  • Participate in brainstorming, team idea sharing, and implementation of plans that create new and exciting ways to promote company safety.
  • Assist and direct in planning and conducting extra circular company safety and leadership meetings and gatherings.
