We want to work with people that share the same values, and we are hoping this could be you! Bizzell is seeking a Safety Officer at Guthrie Jobs Corps Center located in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The Safety Officer will be responsible for establishing systems to maintain the safety of students, staff, and property. Serves as the chair of the center safety committee. Assists the Safety/Security Manager with safety inspections, walk-throughs, and other Center Safety and Security department duties. Follows policies and procedures in accordance with DOL, PRH, Center, and The Bizzell Group requirements.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety.
Knowledge of safety management information systems.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Two years’ occupational health and safety or related experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid State Driver’s License.
Presents information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms the correct interpretation of information.
Very high standard of communication skills both written and verbal for the presentation of facts and ideas.
Shows professional non-verbal body language and actively listens to others.
Action-oriented. Demonstrates the ability to handle several projects simultaneously with decision-making, flexibility, and problem-solving.
Implements the key principles of time management, task allocation, and priority assignment in addition to personal organization.
Shows attention to detail and ability to complete work with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency.
Continually seek ways to improve employment services provided via the development of professional skills and personal growth.

Responsibilities

Performs building safety checks weekly and provides written feedback to Safety/Security Manager.
Conducts regular inspections of GSA vehicles for safety and maintenance and communicates concerns to the Safety/Security Manager and Senior Driver.
Conducts weekly safety training for new students.
Assists the Safety/Security Manager with investigations of safety-related issues.
Monitors the Center grounds daily throughout the training day to help ensure all personal protective equipment is being used and that students and staff are using safe work habits.
Develops, implements, and maintains the Center Safety Committee.
Conduct safety orientations for new employees.
Assists Safety/Security Manager in maintaining a vibrant and strong Safety Cadet Program.
Assists the Safety/Security Manager with security investigations as requested.
Attends regular OSHA and DOL Safety training.
Works towards meeting performance standard goals.
Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), The Bizzell Group’s policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
Demonstrates and abides by The Bizzell Group’s core values and operating principles.
Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
Participation in PRH-mandated staff training is mandatory. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
