About The Position
Arlington County's Department of Human Resources is seeking a Safety & Occupational Health Program Manager to independently lead the development, implementation, and administration of County-wide occupational safety and health (OSHA/VOSH) policies and programs. Operating under general direction with broad latitude, this highly autonomous role serves as a subject matter expert tasked with managing programs designed to prevent injury, reduce liability, and minimize property damage.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in developing and managing comprehensive occupational safety and health programs.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA and VOSH regulations and standards.
- Experience in risk assessment, accident investigation, and program evaluation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Experience in a government or public sector setting.
- Experience with safety management software.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and administer County-wide occupational safety and health (OSHA/VOSH) policies and programs.
- Manage programs designed to prevent injury, reduce liability, and minimize property damage.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in occupational safety and health.
- Provide guidance and support to County departments on safety and health matters.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in occupational safety and health.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for management.
