Safety Manager - Castroville, TX
About The Position
This role supports underground utility construction on a large-scale data center project in Castroville, TX. The Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing site safety operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture across all field activities. The position requires hands-on field presence, direct engagement with crews and subcontractors, and consistent monitoring of underground utility work, including trenching, excavation, and utility installation. The Safety Manager will play a critical role in identifying hazards, enforcing safety protocols, and supporting safe productivity throughout the duration of the project.
Requirements
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification
- Minimum 5 years of related safety experience in construction or utility work
- Ability to work extended hours and Saturdays
- Strong field presence with the ability to enforce safety standards
- Experience supporting underground or civil construction projects
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, underground utility safety standards, excavation and trenching requirements, construction best practices, and bilingual safety communication.
- Proven ability to manage safety programs in active, high-production construction environments.
Responsibilities
- Enforce site-specific safety plans and OSHA compliance
- Conduct daily safety inspections and job hazard analyses
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings in English and Spanish
- Monitor underground utility operations for compliance and risk mitigation
- Investigate incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with project management, superintendents, and subcontractors
- Maintain safety documentation and reporting records
