About The Position

The Construction Safety Manager will oversee safety for a structural steel contractor on the Columbus Airport expansion project. This is a 6-month contract position with a start date of 6/11, requiring 40-50 hours per week. The role involves conducting safety audits, leading investigations, delivering training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of construction safety experience, particularly in structural steel.

Requirements

Structural steel construction safety experience
5 years of construction safety experience
Strong communication and public speaking abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
In-depth understanding of EHS principles and construction safety regulations
Ability to effectively communicate and enforce safety standards and best practices
Familiarity with mechanical construction safety, particularly underground piping operations

Responsibilities

Conduct routine safety audits, site inspections, and risk assessments across multiple project sites
Lead incident investigations, document findings, and implement corrective actions
Deliver safety orientations and ongoing training for employees, subcontractors, and new hires
Partner with project management and field teams to identify and mitigate safety risks proactively
Maintain accurate safety documentation, including incident reports, inspections, and compliance records
Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements
Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across all levels of the project team
