About The Position

Join an underground utilities contractor supporting the construction of a major data center project in Clarksville, TN. This role offers the opportunity to oversee safety activities involving excavation, trenching, underground utility installation, heavy equipment operations, and daily civil construction work on a high-profile project. This position also offers the potential to transition into a full-time W2 role upon successful project completion, with future opportunities to support projects based out of the company's Knoxville office and a company vehicle provided.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Trenching and excavation safety experience required
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Excavation & Trenching Standards (29 CFR 1926 Subpart P)
  • Working knowledge of Underground Utility Construction
  • Working knowledge of Trench Protection Systems
  • Working knowledge of Soil Classification & Protective Systems
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Equipment Operations
  • Working knowledge of Utility Installation Safety
  • Working knowledge of Excavation Competent Person
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Data Center Civil Construction

Nice To Haves

  • Data center construction experience
  • Underground utilities experience (water, sewer, storm, electrical, or telecommunications)

  • Competent Person - Excavation & Trenching
  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily safety activities for underground utility construction operations
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Monitor excavation, trenching, and underground utility installation activities
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA excavation standards and project safety requirements
  • Monitor heavy equipment operations, material handling, and contractor activities
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Deliver new hire orientations and ongoing safety coaching
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), excavation permits, and pre-task plans
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records
  • Partner with project supervision to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the project
