About The Position

Sheakley is seeking an experienced Safety Manager for a fast-paced, five-day industrial project at an active Amazon facility in Abilene, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified safety professional seeking a short-term assignment with strong hourly compensation, approximately 50 scheduled hours, and seven full days of per diem. The Safety Manager will oversee preliminary construction and installation activities involving electrical conduit installation, conveyor belt and conveyor system installation, Lockout/Tagout procedures, electrical safety practices, and contractor activity within an active operational facility. Because the work will take place in an active Amazon location, the selected professional must be comfortable working around ongoing facility operations, multiple trades, energized systems, equipment movement, and strict site-access requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field, plus at least 3 years of relevant safety experience OR Current CSP or CHST certification, plus at least 5 years of relevant safety experience OR OSHA 510 certification, plus at least 7 years of relevant safety experience
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Familiarity with electrical safety practices
  • Must provide a personal laptop or tablet
  • Must bring at least three Lockout/Tagout tags
  • Must be able to work the full five-day assignment
  • Must be available to start August 17, 2026

Nice To Haves

  • Previous industrial, electrical, conveyor, manufacturing, or distribution facility experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong and visible safety presence throughout the shift
  • Monitor electrical conduit and conveyor installation activities
  • Verify compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Review electrical safety practices and potential energy hazards
  • Conduct jobsite inspections and immediately address unsafe conditions
  • Review pre-task plans, job hazard analyses, and daily safety documentation
  • Lead toolbox talks and field safety discussions
  • Coordinate with project leadership, contractors, and site representatives
  • Document observations, corrective actions, incidents, and near misses
  • Help ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site requirements

Benefits

  • $48-$51 per hour
  • $150 per day, paid for 7 days
  • Approximately 50 hours of scheduled work
  • Seven days of per diem for a five-day assignment
